Parts Interchange Explained

Parts interchange is a system that allows users to identify which automotive parts from different vehicles are interchangeable with each other, essentially acting as a cross-reference guide for finding compatible replacement parts. It is primarily used in the automotive recycling industry to accurately identify parts from various car models.

The parts interchange helps users find suitable replacements for a specific OEM part by listing interchangeable matching parts across different makes and models. A parts interchange can help widen the pool of available parts significantly for auto parts buyers, and help save them time and money on their replacement auto parts. GitPart is proud to partner with Hollander Interchange for our parts interchange data on over 13,000 year/make/models.

Parts Interchange: Key Points To Remember

  • A replacement part can have multiple OEM part numbers which fit the application. See the OEM Part Numbers tab on GitPart to see which OEM part numbers will fit for that replacement part application.
  • If you have an OEM part number, type that into the Search OEM Part Numbers bar on gitpart.com. If there's a match for the part number then the user will be led to the GitPart Parts Page for comprehensive OEM data on that particular replacement part.
  • A replacement part can have fitment from multiple vehicle models across the same manufacturer. For example, if you need an ABS Module for a 2015 Chevrolet Cruze (Brake Option J60), that replacement part can come from either a 2014-15 Chevrolet Cruze or a 2012-17 Buick Verano.
  • Using Parts Interchange on GitPart can significantly widen the pool of available replacement parts, ultimately saving parts buyers time and money on their repairs.
